I don’t know if Gardein Mini Crispy Crabless Cakes taste like the real crab cakes but they are so tasty. At the moment, The Cruelty Free Shop and Taste Organic carry them along with other products from Gardein. I’d say they are cheaper at Taste Organic.
Gardein Mini Crispy Crabless Cakes Ingredients:
Textured wheat protein (wheat gluten*, wheat protein*)
Expeller pressed canola oil*
Vegetables (red bell pepper and green onion)
Soy protein isolate*

Roasted garlic puree (roasted garlic, water)

Breading: water, enriched wheat flour (wheat flour*, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), modified corn starch, tapioca starch, yellow corn flour, onion powder, garlic powder, leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium bicarbonate, monocalcium phosphate), canola oil, cane sugar, yeast, salt, soy flour, spice, xanthan gum.
*Non genetically engineered soybeans, wheat and canola.
How to Cook Gardein Mini Crispy Crabless Cakes
Stovetop is best: ln a non-stick pan, heat 1 tsp vegetable oil over medium heat. Add frozen crabless cakes and pan fry for approx. 6-7 minutes each side until golden brown and crispy.
Conventional oven: Preheat to broiI at 450ºF. Place frozen crabless cakes on non-stick baking sheet. Using middle rack, broil for 4 ½ minutes, then turn and broil additional 4 ½ minutes.
Try: Let rest for 2 minutes. Cook until internal temperature reaches minimum of 165º F.

Mini crab-tastic bites
Delicious as appetizers – just top with avocado crema or a mango salsa – or serve on a bed of mixed greens for a meal!
On a flour tortilla, add some coleslaw mix and cooked crabless cakes (cut in half). ln a small bowl, mix chopped cilantro, fresh lime zest and juice, chopped avocado, vegan sour cream and salt. Drizzle over crabless cakes, garnish with cilantro and serve!
My suggestion is Gardein Mini Crispy Crabless Cakes are not enough on their own as a main dish for 2 people. However, they are a great addition to Golden Fishless Filets. I always serve them with Masterfoods Tartare Sauce.
